Marcus Davis Earns Dissertation Fellowship and Runner-Up in 3MT Competition

The UF Philosophy Department congratulate graduate student Marcus Davis, who has recently achieved two significant distinctions for his dissertation work.

Marcus has been awarded a prestigious CLAS Dissertation Completion Fellowship, supported by the Robin and Jean Gibson Fellowship Endowment, for Summer 2025. This highly competitive fellowship recognizes graduate students across the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences who demonstrate exceptional promise in their research. The award will provide Marcus with dedicated time and resources to focus on completing his dissertation.

In addition, Marcus was named runner-up in the university-wide Three-Minute Thesis (3MT) competition. The 3MT challenges graduate students to present their dissertation research in just three minutes to a non-specialist audience, demonstrating clarity, precision, and accessibility. Marcus’s engaging presentation, on “Gaming the System: A Philosophical Analysis,”  impressed the judges and highlighted his ability to communicate complex philosophical ideas to a broader audience.

We are thrilled to celebrate Marcus’s successes and his contributions to our academic community. Please join us in congratulating him on these well-deserved accomplishments!
