Department Colloquium Speaker Series

The Department brings in speakers of interest throughout the year.

Workshops Series

Faculty regularly organize topical workshops drawing together national and international experts to present and discuss various topics of interest. By way of example, we have thus hosted workshops on: Artificial Joint Intentionality, Hume and Hellenism, the Ethics of Abortion, Plato’s The Law’s.

Philosophy-in-Progress Colloquium Series

Faculty present their works-in-progress to their colleagues and graduate students.

Epistemology Working Group

Faculty and graduate students meet fortnightly to read and discuss their work in epistemology.

Gainesville Greek Group

Faculty and graduate students from Philosophy, Classics, and the Hamilton Center meet to read texts in Ancient Greek. For example, the group read Plato’s Crito and Gorgias’ Encomium of Helen. Contact Max Robitzsch (jm.robitzsch@ufl.edu) if you have questions or are interested in joining.

Graduate Philosophy Society

The GPS hosts a national graduate student conference annually, and hosts the UF-FSU Graduate Philosophy Conference every other year.

Undergraduate Societies

Undergraduate Philosophy Society (PhilSoc) — The Society meets weekly during the semester, hosting topical discussion and guest speakers. PhilSoc hosts an annual regional undergraduate philosophy conference.
