Welcome!
The Department of Philosophy welcomes all students to the Fall 2024 semester. We hope that our classes can be a place to convene, collaborate, and connect with everyone in the philosophy community here at UF. Below, you can find a variety of information, links, and resources to help you connect with the UF Philosophy community in the coming semester. If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out!
UF Philosophy Faculty
All philosophy faculty hold regularly-scheduled office hours. Information about these may be found on their Faculty pages. Many faculty are available to make appointments at other times as well.
Advising
For advising related to philosophy, feel free to get in touch with the department’s Undergraduate Coordinator, Dr. Jon Rick. You may reach him by email with questions about the major, minor, or undergraduate curriculum generally.
For advising related to other courses or degree requirements, visit the Advising Center. They can help with questions about other sorts of degree requirements.
Some commonly used forms you may need are:
- The Minor Declaration/Cancellation Form
- The Double Major Application (for when you have two majors in the same college)
- The Dual Degree Application (for when you have two majors across two different colleges)
- Other useful forms may be found at the advising center here
Philosophy Student Groups
If you are pursuing philosophy, you may be interested in connecting with one of the student groups focused on philosophy:
Outside of philosophy, of course, there are many, many student groups that you might find of interest. Here is some general information on student activities and events, and here is a database of student organizations.
Philosophy Department Events
The Department of Philosophy will be holding several talks and events this semester, to which all students are invited. Check back frequently to see what is coming up!
