Virtual Roundtable on Education and COVID-19

April 6, 2021 @ 4:00 pm - 5:30 pm

How has COVID-19 affected all education levels? Hear perspectives from educators, parents, administrators, students, and community advocates who will discuss hardships, losses, successes, and everything in between! We welcome students of all ages, parents, educators, and community members to join us. There will be short presentations by the panelists, followed by a moderated discussion.

Participants include Dr. Karen Cole-Smith, Santa Fe College professor and administrator; Ms. April Hines, UF journalism librarian and public school parent; Dr. Paul Ortiz, UF history professor and president of UFF-UF; Ms. Janine Plavac, an Alachua County public school teacher; and Ms. Leah Sanchez, a UF student. The moderator will be Lucas Rentz, CAIRES center intern for Ethics & the Public Sphere.

This event is organized by the Mellon Intersections Group on Ethics in the Public Sphere, with additional support from the UF Center for Humanities in the Public Sphere; the UF George A. Smathers Libraries; and the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation. For more information, email public-ethics@clas.ufl.edu.
