Dr. Bryan Cwik is Associate Professor in the Program in Bioethics, Law and Medical Professionalism, Department of Community Health and Family Medicine and School of Physician Assistant Studies at the UF College of Medicine and a member of the UF Genetics Institute. He earned his PhD in Philosophy at the University of Virginia in 2013 and was Associate Professor of Philosophy, Biology, and University Studies at Portland State University before coming to UF in 2024. From 2025-2028 he will be a Glenn and Deborah Renwick Fellow in AI Ethics in the Engineering Leadership Institute at the UF Wertheim College of Engineering
Dr. Cwik teaches bioethics in the MD and PA programs in the medical school. His research interests are mostly in the ethics of emerging technologies and applications of such in different areas of medicine, having published papers on genetics and gene editing, global health, intellectual property, values in climate modeling, and other topics.
